The Fashion Equipped team are jetting off to Sydney from March 13-14 to attend the much anticipated Legacy Responsible Fashion Summit. We encourage anyone interested in fashion, sustainability and ethical business practices to check out their program – it’s sure to be an insightful couple of days filled with innovative ideas to drive the industry forward.
Why Attend Legacy Fashion Summit?
Over the last decade, working in the fashion industry has been a turbulent and sometimes frustrating time for local and ethically-focused fashion labels, with mass produced fast fashion brands going from what seemed like strength to strength. Until now.
The last few years have seen a shift in consumer consciousness when it comes to environmental impact and ethical consumption. We still have a long way to go, but right now it’s inspiring and encouraging to see more consumers asking their long-time favourite fashion brands for more transparency around their production processes, worker rights and sustainable practices.
Right now is a pivotal time for big and small fashion brands to step up, skill up and learn how to communicate their ethical practices to customers in an authentic and meaningful way. The Legacy Responsible Fashion Summit aims to address these questions, educate both local and global brands alike, and look ahead to create an industry that takes more responsibility over its workers, consumers and the environment.
“The industry is under pressure and facing a clear call to action: adapt to the new normal of circularity, system redesign and accountability, or risk its very future.” – Legacy Summit
